Amazon’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Jeff Bezos is about to resign from his post. He will step down by the end of this year. Bezos wrote a letter to his employees informing them about this decision. In a letter written on Tuesday, he has said that he is leaving the CEO role in the company. He has been replaced by Andy Jassy.

Last year’s gross revenue

Jeff Bezos wrote in the letter, ‘I am excited to announce that I will play the role of Amazon Executive Chairman and Andy Jassy will be the new CEO of the company’. Jassy is currently the head of Amazon Web Services. Bezos made the announcement at a time when Amazon released financial results for its fourth quarter ended December 31, 2020. The company has sold $ 100 billion in the last three months of 2020.

Jeff Bezos Founder of Amazon

Amazon was launched by Jeff Bezos as a startup in 1995 and today it ranks among the largest e-commerce companies in the world. He further wrote in the letter, ‘I will focus on new products with all my energy in this new role. I have full confidence in Andy Jassy that he will prove to be an outstanding leader ‘.

Jeff Bezos has written in his letter that this journey started about 27 years ago. Amazon was just an idea and had no name. During that time I was most often asked the question, what is the Internet? Today we employ 1.3 million talented, dedicated people. Serves hundreds of millions of customers and businesses, and is widely recognized as one of the most successful companies in the world.

We normalize weird things

He further wrote, ‘How did all this happen? The answer is invention. Invention is the root of our success. We did strange things together and then normalized them. We gave priority to customer reviews. If you work correctly, after a few years of amazing inventions, new things become normal. People work comfortably while yawning and this is the most relaxed moment for any inventor ‘.

We share happiness

Bezos wrote, ‘I don’t know what other companies have a track record in terms of inventions, but we have done a great job and you should be as proud of your inventors as I am. I find my work meaningful and fun. I work with the smartest and brightest team, it’s a privilege for me. When the time is good, you are polite. When times are tough, you become strong and supportive. We have shared each other’s happiness and sorrow, this is the pleasure of working in a team ‘.
